The 76Readline library gives you a set of commands for manipulating the text 77as you type it in, allowing you to just fix your typo, and not forcing 78you to retype the majority of the line. Using these editing commands, 79you move the cursor to the place that needs correction, and delete or 80insert the text of the corrections. Then, when you are satisfied with 81the line, you simply press <tt class="key">RET</tt>. You do not have to be at the 82end of the line to press <tt class="key">RET</tt>; the entire line is accepted 83regardless of the location of the cursor within the line. 84</p> 85<table class="menu" border="0" cellspacing="0"> 86<tr><td align="left" valign="top">• <a href="Readline-Bare-Essentials.html#Readline-Bare-Essentials" accesskey="1">Readline Bare Essentials</a>:</td><td> </td><td align="left" valign="top">The least you need to know about Readline. 87</td></tr> 88<tr><td align="left" valign="top">• <a href="Readline-Movement-Commands.html#Readline-Movement-Commands" accesskey="2">Readline Movement Commands</a>:</td><td> </td><td align="left" valign="top">Moving about the input line. 89</td></tr> 90<tr><td align="left" valign="top">• <a href="Readline-Killing-Commands.html#Readline-Killing-Commands" accesskey="3">Readline Killing Commands</a>:</td><td> </td><td align="left" valign="top">How to delete text, and how to get it back! 91</td></tr> 92<tr><td align="left" valign="top">• <a href="Readline-Arguments.html#Readline-Arguments" accesskey="4">Readline Arguments</a>:</td><td> </td><td align="left" valign="top">Giving numeric arguments to commands. 93</td></tr> 94<tr><td align="left" valign="top">• <a href="Searching.html#Searching" accesskey="5">Searching</a>:</td><td> </td><td align="left" valign="top">Searching through previous lines. 95</td></tr> 96</table> 97 98 99 100 101</body> 102</html> 103
